Dutch Government has endorsed the use of ash as aggregate for concrete
Dutch government endorsed the use of upgraded bottom ash in concrete as benificial for environment.
As it is reducing the use of primairy materials the Dutch government confirmed that the use of upgraded bottom ash is allowed as substitute of aggregates. Additional requirements to the European norm EN12620 (Aggregates for concrete) are described in the technical guideline CUR 116. A substitution of 50% of aggregates is allowed in concrete without reinforcement and 20% in concrete with reinforcement. On top of the technical requirements the end product has to forfill the environmental requirements.
Bottom ash treated with the ADR technology complies with the EN 12620 and the CUR 116. The bottom ash can be used in produktion of concrete tiles, block and bricks.
