An important advantage of the Advanced Dry Recovery (ADR) technology is that it can be operated as a stand-alone unit or it can serve as an integrated extension to existing installations, meaning it can easily be added to conventional technology to increase metal recovery dramatically. This means that the dry technology extension can be applied to existing plants without changing the process, preventing high cost required for adjusting or replacing the existing installations.
Furthermore, the ADR provides the possibility to treat ash without extensive aging. Aging reduces the moisture content, but as a negative side effect, it also reduces the amount of aluminium in the ash resulting from oxidation of aluminium into aluminium hydroxide.
The ADR technology can handle high moisture content ash directly from combustion, reducing intermediate storage and enabling the recovery of more aluminum.
